From 50 onwards, many individuals find a sense of normalcy in their daily lives, maintaining a high level of functioning, just as I did. At 74, I still feel great with regular activities such as bicycle riding and kayaking. Starting such activities later in life can be transformative and enriching. For instance, my bicycle riding, which began in earnest at 50, has led to numerous 100-mile rides, all accomplished through gradual building up from shorter distances.
