Self-reliance, or in more trendy terms, self-independence, is a concept that captivates many. As I went into the job market, a thought crossed my mind: to work in a company and embrace the responsibilities of a grown-up. The allure of being part of a structured organization was seductive. However, the reality was harsher. Dealing with tasks required the employer's approval, and any deviations could result in a host of complications, essentially turning one into a corporate slave for 8 hours a day. The situation, though not as dire as some sectors, was far from the idealized work-life balance often promised by companies.

Advantages and Challenges of Private Employment

The promise of a private sector job is often tied to the concept of privatization, which is indeed beneficial for the economy. However, the day-to-day reality can be far from rosy. Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to work on several private jobs, both online and in-person. The challenge lies in the lack of freedom and the perpetuity of the employment contract. Once onboard, the plane of job security seems locked and hijacked by the employers, making it difficult to exit.

Comparing the experience of working for a private sector job to that of a government job highlights the stark differences. Goto the government, a sense of security and comfort is palpable. While the fear of losing a job does not exist, constant evaluation during promotion periods introduces a different form of scrutiny. Conversely, in the private sector, the sense of stability is less defined, and continuous adaptation to the ever-changing demands of the employer is essential.
