SAIL Management Trainee Exam: Annual Recurring Schedule

The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) holds a Management Trainee (MTT) exam annually, though specific schedules may vary. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the exam schedule, eligibility criteria, and key FAQs to help candidates prepare effectively.

Annual Examination Schedule

SAIL typically conducts the MTT exam every year to address the organization's growing needs. The exact dates can fluctuate based on the organization's hiring requirements and broader economic factors. To stay informed about the most current exam schedules, eligibility criteria, and application processes, it is advisable to visit the official SAIL website or follow official notifications.

No Exams for 2016 and 2017

It's important to note that SAIL did not conduct the MTT exam in 2016 and 2017. Instead, SAIL employed candidates from the GATE 2018 exam for its MTT cadre. However, this interruption is an exception rather than the norm.

Recent Recruitment Trends

From the past few years, SAIL has been recruiting Management Trainees (MTT) and Management Trainees in Administration (MTA) almost annually. The last batch was admitted in September 2015. While the current market conditions have caused a temporary pause in recruitment due to the decline in the steel sector and substantial financial losses, the organization is still planning to drive recruitment in the upcoming year.

No Recruitment This Year but Expected Next

As SAIL undergoes massive modernization and expansion, there is a need to continue recruiting MTTs both in technical and non-technical fields. The All India Written Test, which comprises technical, non-technical, reasoning, numerical aptitude, and English components, is a crucial part of the MTT evaluation process. MTA tests are similar to MBA admission tests.
