The Digital Marketer's Life: Navigating the Remote World of SEO and Marketing

In the truest sense of the word 'marketing,' I am one of those verities. At 80, I am still making waves and enjoying both the process and the results. Life as a digital marketer is multifaceted, filled with challenges yet brimming with learning and growth.

Exploring Digital Marketing

Just three months ago, I delved into digital marketing and SEO. The journey has been a blend of triumph and travail. Even as I study, I still struggle to manage a website while balancing a full-time job. I cannot let go of my main job as my primary source of income. However, I can't dismiss the online marketing gig either, as it is just starting to take shape.

Equally, I carry my MacBook with me, ready to jump into action whenever I find a moment to spare. This is all about striking a balance between the professional and the personal. The good news is that online marketing can be pursued remotely, at one's own discretion. It is a fast-paced yet fascinating endeavor. The digital landscape is both stimulating and challenging, offering a wealth of knowledge and the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals.

The Challenges and Rewards of Digital Marketing

The life of a digital marketer is generally filled with a lot of hard work, but there are few 'quick wins.' However, the rewards are immense when a successful marketing campaign is executed. It is a career that requires continuous learning, as the digital world is ever-evolving.

The journey from the bottom to a 'Head of Department' level is a gradual process that can take up to five years. For someone like me with over 80 years of life, I am still making progress but am content with my circumstances. I'm comfortable and enjoy my work, and like with life, you get out what you put in. Whether it's marketing or any other profession, hard work is the key to understanding and experiencing the fruits of your labor.

Uncovering the Business Challenges

Even though many businesses are great at what they do, they often lack the strategic direction to effectively promote their products or services. This was a critical insight that led me to a fulfilling career as a marketing business coach. My passion lies in helping businesses turn their operations 180 degrees, optimizing their resources, and increasing their return on investment (ROI).

Based on extensive research, the following business statistics are particularly striking:

More than 95% of businesses have no idea how to generate leads and attract the right customers. This is why 96% of businesses close their doors within five years. Only 20% of what a business does should bring in 80% of its revenue. Most businesses are at 1% and are not doing 20%. The solution is often that they just don't know how.

These insights fuel my dedication to empowering entrepreneurs and small business owners to thrive in the digital realm. It is deeply gratifying to watch businesses evolve and grow under my guidance. The journey is full of ups and downs, but seeing the impact of my work brings immense satisfaction and fulfillment.
