I continuously applied for and was rejected from various job openings, leading to further frustration and self-doubt. The constant struggle left me feeling lost and hopeless, even contemplating an unconventional path like joining the military.
During this period, I faced multiple life challenges, including the financial burden of buying a house and the stress of a strained relationship. However, through a series of events and support from my partner and a therapist, my life began to transform. My therapist, focusing on self-hatred and blame, eventually redirected my energy towards discovering my true passion—music.
Disregarding the many years I had ignored my passion, I decided to take up the piano again. Overcoming initial stiffness and rustiness, I embraced the joy of playing music once more. This newfound passion also led me to explore other musical avenues, such as learning the cello and dabbling with music production software like Logic Pro.
My journey taught me that money is not the ultimate measure of success. While I acknowledged the potential income disparity with my current profession, I realized that living a life fulfilled by my passions could lead to a more fulfilling and satisfying existence. I have come to accept that pursuing music as a part-time hobby is perfectly acceptable, and I aspire to return to university to study music further.
By changing my perspective from one of constant regret and blame to one of gratitude, I have been able to make peace with my past and embrace a more positive outlook on life. This shift in mindset has improved my mental health, strengthened my relationships, and provided a sense of purpose and direction.
